Welcome to The Haven
An online somatic healing group for religious trauma survivors
Shut down to survive
If you've been part of a high control group (and let's be real: it can happen in non religious spaces, too), you learn it's not OK to be yourself.
You may be monitored, corrected, judged, singled out, shamed, or shunned for saying the wrong thing, doing the wrong thing, or even thinking the wrong thing.
You quickly learn how to self-censor and rely on external approval to feel safe and gain belonging in the group.
Over time this shuts you down.Â
You disconnect from your body. You avoid your emotions. You ignore your instincts and defer to authority instead of your own wisdom. You start to doubt yourself, downplay your gut reactions and dismiss your needs.
You focus on how you appear, not how you feel, constantly managing how you look to others rather than listening to what is happening inside of you.
Having spent the first 19 years of my life playing the role of someone I wasn't, I can tell you this:
It's exhausting.
And incredibly damaging.Â
Come Back to Yourself
A key part of recovering from religious trauma is remembering how to tune into your body and inner landscape again.Â
How to be present with what's going on inside of you and
See yourself with compassion
Feel your feelings as they arise and move through you
Honor your body and its lived experience
Listen to your inner wisdom
Hear your own truth
This is the foundation of somatic healing: learning how to fully embody yourself. The Haven was created so that we can do it together in a safe, religious-trauma-informed container.Â

I have more questions, Dawn!
The Haven is led by Dawn Marian, an intuitive healer, Akashic Records trainer, Reiki Master teacher and guide with two decades of experience supporting others on their journey to wholeness.Â
Drawing from embodiment and somatic practices, meditation, mindfulness practices, quantum energy healing, and her own experience of breaking free from the cult she was born into, Dawn creates a safe and compassionate space for survivors of religious trauma and high control groups to invoke their inner healer so they can restore peace and freedom in their lives.
